Stoperan Fast is an antidiarrheal medication containing loperamide hydrochloride. It acts directly in the intestines, reducing peristalsis and prolonging the transit time of food. This increases the absorption of water and electrolytes, contributing to the rapid resolution of diarrhea, often within a few hours. The oral lyophilizate dissolves on the tongue without the need for water, making it easy to use in any situation.

Indications for use:

Stoperan Fast is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea in adults and children over 6 years of age, when causal treatment is not possible or effective.

Composition:

The active ingredient is loperamide hydrochloride (Loperamidi hydrochloridum).

One lyophilized tablet contains: 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (Loperamidi hydrochloridum).

Excipients: mannitol, pullulan, aspartame (E951), mint flavor (containing: corn maltodextrin (contains glucose), flavorings, modified corn starch (E1450)), sodium bicarbonate, polysorbate 80.

Effects:

Loperamide binds to opioid receptors in the intestinal wall, inhibiting the release of acetylcholine and prostaglandins. This reduces gastrointestinal motility and prolongs intestinal transit time. This results in increased absorption of water and electrolytes and reduced bowel movement frequency.

Dosage:

Adults and children aged 8 to 17 years: For acute diarrhea, initially take 2 tablets (4 mg) in adults or 1 tablet (2 mg) in children, followed by 1 tablet (2 mg) after each loose bowel movement. For the treatment of chronic diarrhea, the starting dose is 2 tablets (4 mg) per day for adults and 1 tablet (2 mg) per day for children. The daily dose can be adjusted until 1–2 normal stools per day are achieved; this is usually achieved with a maintenance dose of 1–6 tablets (2–12 mg) per day. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 8 tablets (16 mg) in adults.

Children aged 6 to 7 years can take 1 tablet (2 mg) after each loose bowel movement. For acute diarrhea, do not exceed 3 tablets (6 mg) per day, and for chronic diarrhea, do not exceed 2 tablets (4 mg) per day.
