A4988 Driver Introduction: A4988 is a complete microstepping motor driver with built in converter for easy operation. The A4988 can run bipolar stepper motors in full, half, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16 step modes with output drive capability up to 35 V and 2 A. The A4988 includes a fixed off time current regulator in either slow or mixed decay mode. The A4988 converter is the key to easy implementation. The step input drives the motor one microstep forward with a single pulse input. There are no phase tables, high frequency control lines or complex programming interfaces. The A4988 interface is ideal for situations where a complex microprocessor is unavailable or overburdened.
