Visual Traffic Light Behaviour Warning Board AAC (Picture Communication Symbols) Description

Visual Traffic Light Behaviour Warning Board AAC (Picture Communication Symbols)

• All corners have been rounded to reduce the likelihood of scratches.
• We use only Mayer-Johnson PECs images (used with permission). These are the most commonly used symbols with ASD, meaning the individual will not need to learn several symbols for the same thing. Generalising concepts by using several different specific photos for the same thing in different settings is something that many people with ASD find hard to cope with.
• Board and symbols all come with good quality sticky backed velcro, pre applied so products are able to be used immediately upon receipt.
• Made from plastic - highly durable, waterproof and resistant to grease.

This board is a simple A5 board, using a traffic light system to alert the individual to when their behavior is becoming unacceptable by placing them on a series of color warnings according to their behavior at a specific time. They can then come to understand the consequences of their behavior, as they learn to associate a series of outcomes with being on each color warning. This board can be used as a way of getting the individual to understand the expectations on them, and for them to take responsibility for modifying their behavior according to social demands. This is something that someone with ASD can struggle to do, and this board is a useful step in that journey. this product, like all our products, was inspired by some of the difficulties we have gone through in raising our own autistic son over the years, and includes a lot of strategies that have helped him to cope with some of the challenges life can bring.
