*Wicked*, a prequel to *The Wizard of Oz*, follows Elphaba, a misunderstood green-skinned witch, and Glinda, a popular blonde, who meet at Shiz University. Initially at odds, they form an unlikely friendship. When Elphaba discovers her magical abilities, she is recruited by the Wizard of Oz, only to find he is a fraud exploiting animals. Choosing to defy him, she is branded "wicked," while Glinda aligns with the regime for status. Their paths diverge as Elphaba fights for justice, becoming the "Wicked Witch," and Glinda evolves into the "Good Witch." The story explores their complex bond, societal prejudice, and the blurred lines between good and evil, culminating in Elphaba faking her death to escape persecution.
