Since the Crown, like all "Forbidden" Quick-Plays, can be used on either turn, you can use it on any monster, friend or foe, as offense or defense, depending on the situation. You can stop your opponent's monster effects, disrupt their Summoning strategy by making a monster unusable as material, or make it indestructible while it's stuck in Attack Position so you can run over it again and again to smash their Life Points. On the other hand, you can use it on your own monsters to protect them from enemy card effects, from being destroyed in battle, and from being used as material by your opponent. And since it opens so many possibilities, it's a great card to Set if you're going first, because it always has a great use. It's the Crown for every occasion! Use Darklord Dance to easily Fusion Summon Eveningstar (or any DARK Fairy) with materials from the hand, field, or Graveyard (or even use "Darklords" your opponent controls...) and boost his ATK by a thousand.
