Who are the Angry Birds?

The birds are the protagonists of the Angry Bird franchise. The aim of the game and the plotline of the movies is that the Birds are trying to retrieve their eggs from the Bad Piggies who have stolen them all. All of the birds are based on real bird species such as Red who is a northern cardinal and Chuck who is based on a canary. They hurl themselves at structures with the goal of defeating the pigs using their special powers and abilities to get their eggs back. 

There are many different Birds in the franchise including Star Wars characters and additional characters introduced in special editions of the games. There is a core flock of Birds though who feature in every single iteration of the games, series and movies. These include Red; the main protagonist, Chuck; the yellow canary, Matilda; the white chicken, Bomb; the black loon, Jay, Jake, and Jim; the mountain bluebirds, and Terence; the northern cardinal. Each has their own special ability or power to help them get their eggs back from those Bad Piggies!
