It opens with a favourite top note, that of orange. However, where lesser perfumes might be content to use only a single form of this citrus, Cartier Panthere uses two, delicate orange blossom alongside the more forceful mandarin orange. Spice joins the sharpness with a combination of ginger and pepper. Rose and labdanum provide a floral element as well. Cartier perfume la Panthere is already a full bouquet, and that's just the top notes.
The florality becomes stronger in the middle, evolving into a bright and vivid match between tuberose, carnation, gardenia, ylang-ylang and more. Nutmeg also lends its fiery, earthy aroma, further emphasising the exotic qualities of the flower choices. The base creates an unforgettable crescendo. It's rich with warm, animalic scents, mostly from civetone, the synthetic recreation of civet musk.
This bold ending imbues the wearer with a panther's energy - making you feel lithe and powerful. The civetone is balanced with sandalwood, tonka bean, incense and brighter base notes like oak moss.
