The Tommy Hilfiger brand is unapologetically American, and so are the notes contained within their fragrances. Perhaps there's no better representation of this than the first Tommy Hilfiger perfume for women, the iconic Tommy Girl. This fruity floral fragrance puts an emphasis on clean, refreshing flavours and has a strong citrus profile.
It opens with a light and spring-like aroma of apple blossom. Harkening to America's native crab apple and the USA's favourite dessert, apple pie. It's joined by a tangy combination of black currant and delicate camellia floral notes.
The middle bursts with the three-way fruit punch of lemon, orange and grapefruit, instantly evoking the warm, sunny orchards of southern California. It's this primary citrus accord that gives Tommy Girl perfume its reputation for reinvigorating you. It's joined by a couple of floral notes, in particular rose, as well as a refreshing green quality from mint. The base is very light, opting again for flowers (this time magnolia and jasmine) in combination with cedarwood and a hint of leather.
A beloved tour de force of perfumery, it was inevitable that Tommy Hilfiger Girl perfume generated a series of flankers and descendant scents. The most recent is Tommy Now Girl, a combination of the original classic with the spirit of Tommy Hilfiger Now men's aftershave. It retains a lot of Tommy Girl's personality, namely the citrus floral combination (magnolia returns, but this time it's every floral note, not just the base) and the mint. However, it's slightly more seductive thanks to a musky base. Like all of the Tommy Hilfiger Girl perfumes, it's best suited for wearing during the day in spring and summer, but Tommy Girl Now is for when you want to turn up the temperature in more ways than one.
Other Tommy Hilfiger women's perfumes
While Tommy Girl remains the brand's most famous scent, there are other all-American aromas for you to try. For a more traditionally feminine scent, you can try the so-called Tommy Hilfiger pear blossom perfume. It's part of the Hilfiger woman line, but it replaces the pillar's citrus notes (Tommy Hilfiger loves putting citrus notes in their feminine fragrances) with sweeter, spicier accords. These include raspberry and pear blossom on top, sandalwood and cedar in the middle before finishing with tonka bean and cinnamon. Its most surprising element is the smell of whipped cream, which provides a divine softness and, well, creaminess to the perfume.
You might also find Tommy Now Them perfume in this category. This versatile eau de toilette blends wood and spice notes together brilliantly to create a modern, energetic fragrance. Fresh bergamot, pink pepper, ginger, cardamom and sandalwood are the biggest scents, supported by oakmoss and cashmeran in the background.
