About Bose Headphones
Bose Corporation was founded in 1964 by a professor of electrical engineering at MIT, Dr. Amar G. Bose. Fascinated by the field of acoustics, Dr. Bose had been researching the science of sound in his spare time and was awarded a number of patents for his loudspeaker designs. Instead of looking for an established company to licence his loudspeaker patents, Dr. Bose launched his own company. The rest, as they say, is history.
OnBuy stocks the whole range of Bose products. Take a look at the QuietComfort noise-cancelling headphones as the perfect all-round everyday headphone. Or check out the revolutionary QuietComfort earbuds which were the first noise cancelling earbuds on the market. If you enjoy listening to music while running or cycling then take a look at the SoundSport range, these earbuds are optimised for active listeners and the design is perfectly suited to make it easy to enjoy your music during your workouts.
Who are Bose?
As a student in the ‘50s, Dr. Bose purchased a new stereo system. He was disappointed to find that the speakers, purchased for their impressive technical specifications, didn’t sound as good as he expected. As a true innovator, he took this experience to heart and it launched a lifelong quest for better sound. In 1968, after extensive research into speaker design and psychoacoustics (the human perception of sound), the Bose corporation released its first product, the groundbreaking 901 Direct/Reflecting speaker system.
The technology of the 901 was inspired by concert halls. Realising that most of the sound heard by the audience members at a concert was reflected from the surrounding environment and only a modest proportion came directly from the instruments, this provided the groundwork for the design of the revolutionary 901. This ‘enveloped in sound’ approach proved to be a big hit with the public and catapulted Bose to international success.
Bose is unique amongst audio companies because of their approach to research and development. Unlike their competitors, Bose pours an enormous amount of time and energy into prototyping, testing, software development and academic research. This philosophy really shows in their products. Technical enhancements such as miniaturisation, noise-cancelling and Bluetooth speaker technology have been instigated and driven to new heights by Bose.
What’s the best Bose Headphone?
If you’re looking for a pair of everyday headphones, Bose has got you covered. Featuring best-in-class active noise cancellation (ANC), the Bose headphone line continues to go from strength to strength. Their QuietComfort line is considered the standard for Bluetooth headphones featuring ANC technology and are the benchmark from which all other headphones are judged.
These cans are designed to be the perfect companion for people on the move and boast great sound quality, potent noise reduction, top-quality microphones for making calls and accessing your virtual assistant, and even a companion app to tweak your sound settings and find the perfect settings just for you. If that doesn't push your buttons, consider the Bose 700 headphones. These cans take everything that is good about the QuietComfort line and makes it even better. They feature upgraded build quality with a stainless steel headband and a more potent noise cancellation system, as well as a bigger battery and improved memory foam ear cups.
Maybe earbuds are more your thing? Take a look at the Bose SoundSport line or the QuietComfort earbuds. These premium in-ear headphones both offer incredible audio fidelity for their size and provide you with a pocket-sized solution for your listening needs. The QuietComfort earbuds are optimised for general use, whereas the SoundSport headphones are designed with exercise and active listening in mind.

Bose headphones FAQs
Can I use Bose headphones for everything?
Absolutely! Most Bose headphones come with noise-cancelling functions and QuietComfort technology. They help you be more in control with your device by using the touch gestures – you can accept or end calls, adjust your volume, and play or pause your content with ease. They're good for listening to music, gaming or working out.
Are Bose headphones worth their price?
Bose headphones are multifunctional by nature and offer great noise-cancelling features. Not to mention, they're also super stylish and comfortable. Feature-rich and fashionable, Bose headphones are certainly worth the price.
Are Bose headphones better than Beats?
When it comes to the quality of the sound, Beats boast an enhanced bass and they're usually louder. However, Bose headphones come with a built-in equaliser, which makes your entire experience smoother. As they both offer different benefits, the answer to this question depends largely on your needs and wants.
Should I sleep with Bose headphones on?
If you are comfortable with them, it's certainly safe to do so. They are a great alternative to earplugs and the noise-cancelling technology can block out loud noises that may disturb your sleep. However, the bulky nature of Bose headphones may keep you awake and prevent you from turning to a comfier position, in which case we recommend Bose Sleepbuds that work with the Bose Sleep app to give you a better nights sleep without the bulky shape and over-ear design.
Are Bose headphones noise-cancelling?
Not all of Bose's creations come with noise-cancelling technology. However, those that do are brilliant for reducing unwanted noise and providing a crystal clear and more realistic audio. As a result, they're ideal for when you want to relax and blocking out noisy surrroundings.
