Looking to buy ASUS Phones?
ASUS mobile phones - the smartphone experience, reimagined.
Want more from your mobile? You’ve come to the right place! With years of experience computer components and ready-made PCs, and a working knowledge of what the modern consumer wants from their tech, ASUS are no strangers to creating industry-dominating devices - and their smartphones are no exception to the rule. Packed with the latest and greatest smartphone technology, ASUS phones aren’t just designed to keep up with your daily life; they’re built to enhance it, too.
Want a premium gaming smartphone? ASUS’ ROG phone series combines the latest, fastest processors with exclusive features designed to stop your phone from overheating. Paired with ultrafast, responsive displays with high fidelity and lightning-fast refresh rates, it’s like having a next gen console in the palm of your hand!
Perhaps you just want a mid-range phone that prioritises affordability and functionality over style or fashionable features? Check out ASUS’ Zenfone series. High in performance yet low in cost, they’re ideal if you’re looking for a reliable mobile that can keep up with your busy lifestyle.
Premium specs, mid-range prices with the ASUS Zenfone
Plenty of leading electronics brands make amazing premium devices, but ASUS mobile phones are still able to stand out from the crowd. The secret to their success? While their competitors put their energy into developing flashy features like folding screens or built-in TV projection, ASUS focuses on the core of your phone: the chipset. By saving costs on things like macro camera lenses and smart stylus compatibility, ASUS can deliver a boost in performance; an ASUS mobile typically has more processing power than similarly priced handsets from other brands.
Named after the hyper-popular ASUS Zenbook laptops, ASUS Zenfones are exactly what mobile phone bargain hunters look for in a handset: powerful yet affordable, with a great build quality. This ASUS phone sent ripples of excitement through the Android phone fanbase when it was unveiled in 2014. The first models shipped with 1GB of RAM and a dual core processor for under £100 - making it a truly speedy phone at a fantastic price for the time!
Modern ASUS Zenfones are way more powerful, but the prices remain competitive. Pick up one today and you’ll have access to the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series processors and up to 16GB of RAM for hundreds of pounds less than the latest iPhone. They’re tough too, with an aluminium frame that will be instantly familiar to any Apple fan.
Miss being able to comfortably fit your phone in your pocket? An ASUS phone is the answer. For example, the new ASUS Zenfone 8 has been specially designed to fit comfortably in the average person’s hand.
ASUS Zenfones use a couple of smart ideas to keep their devices on the smaller side while still packing in the power. One is the distinctive camera arrangement; rather than having a separate front-facing camera for selfies, some Zenfones have a rear camera that pops out of its body on a hinge to face forwards. This saves space at the top of the phone and means you don’t have to worry about the front camera spoiling your display - you get to take awesome selfies, too - what’s not to love?
The best in mobile gaming
Thanks to viral hits like Pokémon GO and Genshin Impact, almost all of us have at least one game on our phone. In fact, mobile gaming made over $10 billion in 2020 and yet very few brands have released phones dedicated to this popular pastime. ASUS are the exception! They’ve used their experience making gaming PCs to create the ASUS ROG gaming smartphone series.
ROG stands for Republic of Gamers, and any true gamer wants the maximum possible power. We’ll they’re well catered for here: these cutting edge devices are some of the beefiest mobile phones bar none. As well as the latest processors and a huge amount of RAM (the ROG 5 Ultimate has a staggering 18GB, which is more than any other phone on the market), new ROG phones come with ultrafast UFS 3.1 flash storage, meaning games load quicker than ever before - you’ll never see a dropped frame rate when you play.
The display of a regular ASUS phone is already extraordinary, but the ROG series takes it one step further. The latest ROG phones have a 6.78” OLED screen with a beautiful FHD+ 2448 x 1080 pixels resolution - that’s a higher resolution in the palm of your hand than is in the average UK TV set!
It gets even better. Many games and apps have a limited dynamic range (the difference between the darkest colour and the brightest colour), which can make their colours seem drab and lifeless, even on such incredible screens as the ones you find on an ASUS gaming phone. So ASUS have partnered with PixelWorks to create always-on HDR technology. This system uses special visual processing to boost the colour depth and contrast on every app and game a ROG phone runs.
One unique feature available for ASUS gaming phones is the aeroactive cooler system. This accessory - built by ASUS for some of their most popular ROG phones - works exactly like a CPU cooling fan in a PC, directing air towards the back cover of compatible phones, near where the phone’s CPU is. Anyone who uses their phone for mobile gaming knows how hot their device can get. This heat doesn’t just make the phone uncomfortable to hold, it can make your handset sluggish and shorten its lifespan. But according to ASUS’ own tests an aeroactive cooler can lower the surface temperature near the CPU by up to 15°C. They also double as a handy mobile phone grip, as well.
An ASUS ROG phone is an excellent choice even if you never play games - they’re fantastic for enjoying all kinds of media. That HDR upgrade will work its magic on your favourite TV shows while front-facing stereo speakers offer a more immersive audio experience when you’re jamming to your feel-good playlist - and some models have managed to squeeze a 3.5mm headphone jack back into modern phone design. Never played a video game? You’ll still fall in love with these wonderful ASUS devices!
Is ASUS good for gaming?
One area where ASUS has gone above and beyond is with the gaming community. In particular, its range of high-performance PCs and laptops has proved to be a huge hit with professional gamers, but with the release of the ROG series, ASUS has made even its phone line-up a strong contender in the smartphone market too. So, if you're browsing online for a new phone to play the latest games, you're in luck, as developers at ASUS have created the ultimate gaming phone with the ROG 5 series.
The ASUS ROG Phone 5 series has a stylish design and comes in three varieties: the standard version, the ASUS ROG 5 Pro, and the ASUS ROG 5 Ultimate. As you’d expect, the Pro and Ultimate versions, which are pricier, have slightly better specs than the standard version.
The ROG 5 series features:
Battery life: The phone has excellent battery capacity. It can recharge its 6,000mAh battery in under an hour with its 65W in-box charger.
Ultrafast display: Vibrant AMOLED 6.78-inch touchscreen display.
Audio quality: Dual 12x16mm front-facing speakers with Dirac HD sound, which are incredible and can project overlapping layers of audio. Also, what was unfortunately removed from the ROG 3 series is now back: the ROG 5 phone series has put the 3.5mm headphone jack back where it should be.
Storage: Standard - caps out at 16 RAM and 256GB storage. Pro - 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. Ultimate - 18GB of RAM and 512GB storage.
Customisation: ROG Vision is a feature that allows you to flex your gamer cred by displaying custom text or graphics on its rear-facing OLED screen.
So, if you're looking for a portable gaming device, where a laptop or tablet is not practical due to taking up too much space, check out OnBuy's range of ASUS smartphones for the ultimate mobile gaming experience that'll fit right there in your pocket.
