Oud has a reputation for being heavy and difficult. Acqua di Parma went the other way with it. This one opens with Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian orange, so the first thing you get is bright citrus, not smoke. The oud sits underneath that, softened with coriander and a touch of clove, and it never takes over. By the time it dries down you’re left with sandalwood, leather and a warm amber musk that stays close to the skin for most of the day.

It’s part of the Signatures of the Sun collection and was made to be worn by anyone. If you’ve tried oud before and found it too much, this is the one that usually changes minds. It works in the evening, obviously, but it’s light enough to wear to the office without announcing yourself from the other side of the room.

Comes in the 180ml bottle with the brand’s Art Deco cap and black label, in the new packaging. Made in Italy.

Spray on pulse points. Good in cool weather, and surprisingly wearable in warmer months thanks to the citrus top.
