Ambroxol Orifarm is a medicine in the form of a banana-flavored syrup. The active substance of the medicinal product is ambroxol hydrochloride, which is derived from bromhexine. This substance belongs to a group of drugs that stimulate the secretion of bronchial mucus and reduce its viscosity.

Ambroksol Orifarm syrup is used in acute and chronic respiratory diseases causing difficulty in expectorating viscous secretions in the respiratory tract, such as acute and chronic bronchitis, inflammation of the nose and throat, and cystic fibrosis. The medicinal product is suitable for use by the entire family, including children over 1 year of age and adults.

After oral administration, ambroxol accelerates mucociliary transport and increases ciliary motility. Additionally, it stimulates the production of alveolar and bronchial surfactant, which facilitates the separation of sticky mucus and mucus coatings from the bronchial wall, as well as the removal of secretions from the upper respiratory tract. It also increases bronchial patency and relieves cough. The effect of ambroxol occurs approximately 30 minutes after application.
