WHAT IS A DUAL FUEL GENERATOR

You will find that most Generators in the UK market work by means of single fuel technology. A dual fuel generator offers two options for your back up power source both Petrol and LPG. A dual fuel generator will offer the ability to switch between Petrol and LPG either automatically or manually depending on the specification of the generator you purchase.

There are a number of advantages this Dual Fuel technology can offer. Dual Fuel generators are a more Eco friendly option in comparison to single fuel generators on the market, With their more efficient engine the generator will produce less carbon emissions into the environment. A dual fuel generator will also eliminate any need to have large amounts of fuel in storage, they are a lot more cost effective and efficient. In recent years many councils have opted for petrol free sites for many markets or local events, the dual fuel option will mean a safer greener portable alternative for you wherever necessary.

DO OPEN FRAME PETROL GENERATORS HAVE LOW EMISSION ENGINES?

Not all do but the requirement since 2021 is to have a low emission certified ‘Euro V' engine – all Excel Power petrol generators are certified to this low emission standard. You can rest assured that this generator has a low impact on our environment.

IS THE EXCEL POWER XL8000DFV EASY TO START AND USE?

You bet it is – The unit is complete with electric push-button start and on-board starting battery so it couldn't be easier to operate. The easy recoil start (pull start) is used as a back-up starting method but is very simple and easy to use and is smooth and silky.  On a well-maintained unit it starts first pull every time – it is engineered to run on the new E10 petrol now available so there are no worries there either.

There is one x 32A 230v blue socket, one 13A UK 3-pin plug socket, and one x 12V DC charging port to connect your electrical equipment up to. Also, this unit has as an easy-to-read onboard digital display so you can see information such as, hours run, output voltage and frequency. A great feature is the power light to confirm everything is working as it should and the oil protection system which shuts the generator down (or prevent starting) when the oil level is too low.

The hour's run meter is important as you will need to know when your generator will need servicing after the scheduled hours run time has been reached. This will keep your generator maintained and running for thousands of hours use.

USING SENSITIVE EQUIPMENT WITH THE ELECTRICAL POWER FROM THE EXCEL POWER XL8000DFV

The power produced by the Excel Power XL8000DFV is regulated by an AVR which keeps the 230v output clean and stable making it safe to use with electronic equipment like PC's, laptops TV's and more besides.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT USE MY PETROL GENERATOR FOR LONG PERIODS?

As with all petrol engines, if you are planning to store your generator for a long period its ‘best practise' to either drain the fuel tank then run the generator until it stops. This will prevent any unused fuel congealing and clogging the carburettor. Or to stop the fuel from going off use a petrol additive. Remember, stale fuel can stop your generator from starting when you need it. The XL8000V can be used with E10 petrol.

GENERATOR SAFETY INFORMATION

A portable generator is the ideal solution when temporary or portable power is required, that said it is also important to use your generator in a safe and effective way. When purchasing your new generator, it is always important to consider the safety factors before use. All portable generators produce the poison gas Carbon Monoxide (CO). CO is an odourless and colourless gas that can kill without warning. Here at Hampshire Generators, we recommend you do not run your generator in any enclosed space to avoid the build-up and dangers of Carbon Monoxide. Never use your generator inside your home, garage, garden shed, cellars, boats or even cabin even if doors and windows are open and always talk to a professional prior to running your new generator.

Only use generators outside in a well-ventilated area more than 20 feet away from your home. We also recommend you install CO detectors in your home to ensure not only your safety but everyone around you.
