Hozelock Ecocel 10000 Pond Bio Filter Description
Hozelock Ecocel 10,000 Filter
The Hozelock Ecocel is a popular choice, owing to its price and its benefits. Making it a great package at a great cost. The Ecocel is a basic box filter, concentrating on the filtration of the water as it passes through.
While having a filter with a UV is a benefit, it may not be needed in some pond set ups. This is why the Ecocel is the recommended unit. The Ecocel is ideal if you already have a UVC in your pond and need to replace or add an additional filter. Because the filter has no UV, it also gives you the chance to customisie your set up by placing your units in a position of your choice. You are not restricted by having the UVC attached in the box like most filter and UV boxes out there.
The filtration stages in the Ecocel are simple and very effective, producing results in a matter of weeks. The pond water enters the top of the unit and passes through a spray attachment inside the box. This sprays the water over the filter foam, the first stage of filtration. Here the foam enables the water to soak through and traps solids. The now solid free water trickles down to the Bio media underneath where beneficial bacteria in the bio media work to cleanse the water of dangerous pollutants and producing clear and healthy water. This water then returns to the pond under gravity via the outlet on the side of the unit. The top of the unit has a convenient viewing hatch so the workings of the filter can be monitored for problems and maintenance.
The Ecocel is the perfect choice for your pond.
When combined with a Vorton UVC (sold separately) green water algae will be eliminated.

The Ecocel is an above ground filter that combines mechanical and biological filtration.
- Specially designed to provide mechanic and biological filtration that ensure’s your pond is always clear and healthy
- Team with a Vorton UVC to eliminate green water algae
These above ground filters combine mechanical and biological filtration to keep ponds clear and healthy.
How Ecocel works?
Water enters the unit via a spray head (1), which is evenly distributed over a foam sheet (2). Solid particles in the water are trapped in a foam sheet (3). Almost solids free, the water passes through plastic biomedia (4) where beneficial bacteria cleanse pollutants. The amount of biomedia contained in the filter increases in direct proportion to the size of the pond/filter to support a greater number of fish. Purified water then passes up an outlet tube (5) and back into the pond. Use the viewing hatch to observe the internal operation of the filter, which helps to show if any maintenance is required.
Hozelock Cyprio Ecocel garden pond filters can be sited almost anywhere and teamed with the appropriate pond pump. They will remove unwanted solids from the water and convert dissolved organic and chemical fish waste into harmless compounds. In addition, these filters combined with UVC units will give guaranteed clearwater.
