If you do not feel better or if you feel worse, contact your doctor. 1. What is JUVIT D3 MAX and what is it used for?

JUVIT D3 MAX contains vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Vitamin D3 is a member of the D group of vitamins. In the human body, it is converted into active forms that act as hormones.

Cholecalciferol is produced in the human body in the skin under the influence of ultraviolet light (UV rays). Synthesis in the skin covers only a small portion of the requirement. The main source of vitamin D is food (meat, milk, egg yolks).

The primary property of vitamin D3 metabolites is to increase the absorption of calcium and phosphate. By stimulating the production of a specific protein in the intestine, vitamin D facilitates the binding and subsequent transport of calcium into the blood. Cholecalciferol also increases the absorption of calcium and phosphate in the kidneys. In bones, it increases the activity of osteoclasts (cells that remove old bone cells) and osteoclastic osteolysis (the process of bone dissolution by osteoclasts). All of these actions lead to an increase in blood calcium levels and the stimulation of proper bone formation and mineralization.

Vitamin D3 is well absorbed in the small intestine after oral administration. Bile acids play a crucial role in this absorption process. Cholecalciferol and its metabolites are stored in the liver, adipose tissue, and muscles, from where they are gradually released. They are excreted primarily in bile in conjugation with glucuronic acid, glycine, and taurine, and in small amounts in urine. Small amounts of cholecalciferol pass into breast milk and through the placenta.

JUVIT D3 MAX is recommended for use in:

prevention of vitamin D deficiency and conditions resulting from deficiency (e.g., rickets, osteomalacia) in adults, adolescents, children, infants, and newborns,

supportive treatment of osteoporosis in adults,

prevention of vitamin D deficiency in women planning a pregnancy, who are pregnant, and breastfeeding, in consultation with a doctor.

This medicine can be used to treat vitamin D deficiency, rickets, and osteomalacia in patients who have previously been diagnosed, as a continuation of treatment.

2. Important information before using JUVIT D3 MAX

When should you not use JUVIT D3 MAX:

if you are allergic to cholecalciferol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);

if you have: hypercalcemia (elevated serum calcium levels), kidney stones, lack of cholecalciferol hydroxylase activity in the liver and kidneys, or severe renal failure.

Warnings and Precautions

Discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist before using JUVIT D3 MAX.

Prophylactic vitamin D dosing in the general population should be individualized

depending on age, body weight, sun exposure (season), diet, and lifestyle. In healthy individuals exposed to the sun with their forearms and lower legs exposed for at least 15 minutes

between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, without sunscreen, between May and September, supplementation is not necessary, although still recommended and safe. If the above conditions are not met, supplementation is recommended depending on age, body weight, and dietary vitamin D intake, year-round.

Vitamin D deficiency is defined as a serum concentration of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25(OH)D) < 20 ng/ml (< 50 nmol/l). The target concentration for optimal vitamin D effect is 30-50 ng/ml (75-125 nmol/l).

Concomitant use of JUVIT D3 MAX with other medications or foods containing vitamin D (e.g., combined vitamin-mineral preparations) may result in overdose.

Serum calcium levels should be monitored when using vitamin D3 for long periods or in doses exceeding 1000 IU daily.

In patients with sarcoidosis, there is a risk of excessive conversion of cholecalciferol to active metabolites. Doses should be reduced if necessary, and patients should be closely monitored for serum and urinary calcium levels.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist
