Opinel No. 7 Locking Knife | 8cm Carbon Steel Blade Description
Made in France, the Opinel pocket knife will be your trusty companion for years to come. Built from anti-corrosive steel with a varnished beech handle, this knife offers precision and excellent cutting power. The knife is suitable for camping, hunting and even DIY use.
Stainless steel blade
Based on the Yatagan blade shape, this knife is 8cm long. Constructed from a mix of steel, chrome and carbon, the knife has a fantastic cutting edge and will be easy to keep sharp. Opinel have used Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel to create a knife that cuts accurately. The chrome content gives this knife anti-corrosive properties with no need for specialist maintenance.
Virobloc safety ring
The Virobloc safety ring was designed by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The safety ring is built from stainless steel and allows the blade to be locked in the open or closed position. An Opinel knife will keep you safe when using or transporting the knife.
Varnished beech handle
This knife has a beautiful beech handle which has been sourced and crafted in France. Opinel only use the finest beech which can be identified by the abundance of small dashes in the wood. Beech is renowned for its durability and efficiency so you can be sure this knife will stand the test of time.

It's difficult to review an item with as much history behind it as the Opinel knife. Any criticism aimed at it can easily be negated by the simple fact that this item has stood the test of time so well.Luckily I have no criticism to level at it.
The No.7 is the right size for me, the wooden handle is smooth and aesthetically pleasing. The blade is carbon steel and is extremely sharp out of the box. Its an easy steel to maintain a hair-popping edge to. The locking collar is a design classic.
Overall this is a beautifully designed tool that will serve you for years with just a little care and attention. Look after it and it will look after you.
