Sky Watcher Skymax 102S MAK Collimatable Astronomy Telescope with AZ Pronto Mount

Sky Watcher Skymax 102S MAK Collimatable Astronomy Telescope with AZ Pronto Mount Description

The updated and capable Sky Watcher Skymax 102S MAK Astronomy Telescope with AZ Pronto Mount 10249 now features a collimatable primary mirror cell. Updated from the Sky Watcher Skymax 102S MAK 10259 version.

The Sky Watcher Skymax 102S is a simple, grab-and-go, hassle-free telescope and the perfect instrument for observing double stars, as well as for examining the Moon's surface in great detail and viewing bright planets. To enhance contrast and image sharpness, its high-resolution, long focal length optical system is multi-coated. High-power daytime terrestrial observations are another application for the adaptable SKYMAX-102S (with an optional erecting prism diagonal, sold separately).

The collimatable primary mirror cell is the adjustable mount at the back of a reflecting telescope that holds the main mirror. It features adjustment screws that let you subtly tilt the mirror to align it perfectly. This alignment process, called collimation, ensures that incoming light bounces exactly where it needs to go for a crisp view.

Here is why it matters:

• Sharp Views: It keeps stars looking like pinpoint dots instead of blurry, distorted smears.
• Easy Maintenance: It lets you quickly restore perfect alignment after traveling or removing the mirror for cleaning.

Features
- Maksutov-Cassegrain optical design
- Coatings made of proprietary Radiant Aluminium Quartz (RAQ) are found on the primary and secondary mirrors.
- Metallic High-Transmission Coatings (MHTC) on a corrector plate eliminate chromatic aberrations.
- 1300mm focal length, 102mm aperture, and f/12.7 focal ratio
- Glossy, black diamond metal-flake polish on an aluminium tube
- Collimatable Primary mirror cell
- Comes with AZ PRONTO Alt-Azimuth mount
- Smartphone Camera Adaptor

The well-designed and user-friendly AZ PRONTO Alt-Azimuth mount offers outstanding stability and precise control on both the horizontal (azimuth) and vertical (altitude) axes via its slow-motion cables. Ideal telescope for beginners. With the provided Smartphone Camera Adaptor, you can take pictures of the stars on your smartphone!

The Skymax series, the top line of Maksutov-Cassegrains from Sky-Watcher, offers sharp, contrasty vistas with great levels of detail. Maksutovs are compact telescopes that provide astronomers with a big visual aperture, excellent contrast, and long focal length in a package that is generally regarded as providing clearer images than Schmidt-Cassegrains. These telescopes have focal lengths that are 5-7 times greater than the typical Newtonian or refractor telescope, which allows them to produce higher levels of planetary detail.

Mirrors used in Skymax Maksutovs are made of borosilicate, are polished, and have our unique Radiant Aluminium Quartz (RAQ) coatings applied to them. These coatings create a phenomenal 94% reflectivity. To assist in eliminating chromatic aberration, all Maksutovs employ a corrector plate. This plate is then coated with our patented Metallic High-Transmission Coatings (MHTC), creating high-quality optics at a reasonable cost.
