This book starts from the time of conception of the baby, as the diet taken at that time has a direct impact on the developing childs tooth bud. Dos and Donts have been given to help the expectant mother take proper and adequate nutrition and care to prevent developmental problems for the babys and her own dental health. Once the baby is born, the care to be taken has been explained. The correct time for the eruption of milk teeth, shedding of milk teeth and the eruption of permanent teeth have been illustrated. Oral hygiene instructions and tools, like tooth floss, toothpaste and mouth rinse, and the correct technique for their use, have been made clear. Reasons for cavity formation in the teeth, its prevention and treatments, have been explained. There are other little things that can be trouble creators, such as habits like thumb sucking bottle feeding and lip biting, among others. Management of crooked teeth has been explained and a special mention has been made of congenital defects like cleft lip and palate. All care has been taken to bring to light various factors which ensure a functionally normal set of teeth.
