Wilding DVD [2018]

Was very happy with the quality of this item, in as new condition.
Being a fan of Horror movies in general, and Werewolf ones in particular, this was a very pleasant surprise in how good it was.
Made as an indie project and therefore on a comparatively low budget, compared to the Block Busters we've all become accustomed to these days, this movie does not suffer as a result of this.
It's a well told story from a first time director and on the strength of this, he has a very bright future in the industry.
The basic story concerns the coming of age of a young girl, previously locked up and away from the world, in order to protect her, in a dingy basement room, looked after by her 'Father'. When he finally decides enough is enough, as the girl approaches puberty, she is released from her prison, to be taken under the care of the local sherrif (Liv Tyler). However, as time progresses, her more animalistic tendencies come increasingly to the fore, with some violent, gory events taking place, as the main protagonist succumbs to the call of the wild, and her ultimate destiny.
The film also deals with the subjects of being an outsider, different to others, and bigotry.
The special effects are more subtle, than the out and out CGI fests of some others of the genre, and it appears that most of the effects are more practical in nature. In spite of this, the movie still succeeds in large part, because of actress Bel Powleys' mesmerising central performance, not to mention she plays someone 10 years younger than she is in real life. Love this movie - highly recommended.
