This microwave looks well-made and contains a lot of features useful to help you cook a wide variety of dishes. I bought this model after reading quite a lot of other reviews and advice.
Although the manual is poor, there are online manuals that will provide the information you need and many helpful utube videos showing you how to get started.
The door has a strong handle that is easy to grip and open with a positive catch to keep the door closed.
Take time to understand which automatic programs use the grill in the top because plastic dishes will be melted into your food by this top heat if you get it wrong.
On the front behind the door, there is a useful guide to auto cooking options such as potatoes and veg or defrosting, though the range of options presented is limited so you will need to get practiced with these to learn which will be best for each type of food. It would be useful if Samsung posted more choices for these settings on their website. I was very surprised at the range of dishes that it can cook, so this is a versatile machine and will take a little time and practice to fully understand.
But, to use as a basic microwave, simply press "microwave, press select, press up or down arrows to choose the time to cook then press start. There doesn’t seem to be a short-time quick heat button, but you can easily set a short time then add more time in blocks of 30 seconds by pressing one more button during the heating/cooking period. Then wait until it beeps. The beep is loud enough to hear in an adjacent room with normal noise going on.
To use the auto-cook options, check the dish in the list, press the button for the program such as healthy cooking or grill etc, then press select, then press the up or down arrows to complete the auto-program selection, then press start to begin cooking.
When it finishes a dish, it beeps clearly. Then if you don't take it out straight away it beeps once every few seconds, but not annoyingly so (unlike some microwaves).
The display of the time/cooking program selected is bright and clear blue so is quite easy to read. The control panel is flat so is easy to clean and won't catch dirt unlike models with dials. Cleaning is easy and the anti-odour cleaning feature is useful for use after cooking strong smelling dishes. The child lock and no turn option on the turn table are also useful and easy to use. There is also an eco-setting to reduce energy use. The interior is easy to wipe clean. So, like any microwave, don’t forget to wipe the inside after use to remove spills and water which, if left, would shorten the life of the machine.
Internal dimensions are 330mm wide, 320mm deep, 195mm tall when on the turntable. Will take large bowls up to 318mm diameter.
External dimensions are 520mm wide, 430mm deep and 308mm high. When positioning the microwave on the workbench do give the recommended air gap around it to ensure safe and efficient operation as recommended in the manual.
Overall, this is a well thought out machine that will be worth the time to learn all its many features. Yet you can also use it as a simple microwave to heat dishes for a time that you set. Therefore, its a good choice for the basic cook and the more ambitious ones.
