Cornflower Blue Diadem Description

Unwins Cornflower Blue Diadem Seeds are easy and quick to grow, producing beautiful vivid blue flowers.

These intense blue, double flowers will provide plenty of colour in the garden, as well as in the home as these are ideal for cutting. Brilliant for attracting pollinators, these also provide cut flowers for many weeks throughout summer.

  • Lots of petals make these flowers look like a blue powder-puff
  • Beautiful when combined with other wildflowers such as corncockles and poppies
Sowing Period: March to May / August to October
Flowering Period: June to September

Sowing Instruction
  • Rake soil to create a firm, even surface.
  • Sow seeds thinly in pre-watered soil in full sun, lightly covering with a little more soil.
  • Sowings in semi-circular lines create a natural 'drift' effect.
  • Keep soil moist until seedlings appear and water during dry spells.

Thinning
When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin to allow proper development and prevent overcrowding.

Advice
Late summer and autumn-sown seedlings may benefit from cloche or fleece protection when hard frosts threaten. These plants generally bloom earlier the following summer than spring-sown ones.
