Cornflower Double Mix Description

Unwins Cornflower Double Mixed Seeds produce double flower heads in a mix of colours. The beautiful assortment of flowers are ideal for cutting, making an impressive bouquet on their own, as well as looking great in a sunny spot in the garden.

The long flowering period provides colour throughout summer and the bright flowers are loved by pollinators.

Sowing Period: March to May / August to October
Flowering Period: June to September

Sowing Instructions
  • Rake soil to create a firm, even surface.
  • Sow seeds thinly in pre-watered soil, lightly covering with a little more soil.
  • Semi-circular sowings create a natural 'drift' effect.
  • Keep soil moist until seedlings appear and water during dry spells.
Thinning
When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin to allow proper development and prevent overcrowding.

Advice
Late summer and autumn-sown seedlings may benefit from cloche or fleece protection when hard frosts threaten. These plants generally bloom earlier the following summer than spring-sown ones.
