Cosmos Fizzy Rose Picotee Description

Unwins Cosmos Fizzy Rose Picotee Seeds are an unusual variety for borders and as cut flowers. These eye-catching flowers are unique with pink edging on white petals.

Cosmos Fizzy Rose Picotee is naturally free flowering for a long period throughout summer and beyond. Attractive to pollinators, this variety is loved by bees and butterflies.

  • Ideal for cottage gardens and wall-side beds
Sow: March to April
Flowering: July to October

Sowing
Level fill a tray with seed compost, firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Scatter seeds thinly, lightly covering with vermiculite or a little more compost. Place in a propagator at 18-25 C, or cover tray with cling film and leave in a warm room.

Growing On
When shoots appear, remove cling film. Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5 cm apart into small pots or module trays. Maintain a minimum temperature of 10 C.

Hardening Off/Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out in full sun when the risk of frost has passed. Allow 30 cm between plants. Water well until established.

Aftercare
Water well, especially during warm spells. Feed regularly during the flowering season and deadhead faded blooms to encourage continuous flowering.
