When to sow
February to May
Where to sow
Sow seeds individually, on their edge, in small pots of pre-watered compost, 1-2cm deep. Place in the warmth, 20-25C. Cover with cling film and keep moist. Remove cling film as soon as shoots appear. Keep seedlings in a light position, out of direct sunlight and grow on slightly cooler, around 15C. Plant into 30cm+ diameter pots (or grow bags) when the first flowers have opened. They'll need a minimum temperature of around 10C at this stage.
Remember
Water and feed well to promote fruiting. If male flowers (those without swelling behind them) form, remove them as soon as they are noticed. Provide a climbing support for them to scramble up.
