Lettuce ALL YEAR ROUND Aptly named, this is one you can grow at any time of the year. A Butterhead variety, All Year Round is both versatile and reliable. Medium sized heads with mid-green outer leaves and cream or light-yellow hearts. Hearts are dense and crisp and All Year Round has an excellent flavour. Hardy and reliable this lettuce will heart up even in dry weather. Easy to grow, you can begin to harvest the crop in as little as 10 weeks from sowing and this makes All Year Round ideal for successional sowing. Autumn sowings are best in a cold greenhouse or cold-frame but can be made outside and over-wintered under cloches. You can then harvest lettuce in spring for early salads. Seldom grows more than 6 inches tall with a spread of around 12 inches. Now considered a heritage variety All Year Round was introduced around 1870. It has certainly stood the test of time.
