CURLY KALE Westland Autumn. Also known as Scotch Kale and Borecole, a healthy plant packed with goodness. An easy to grow vegetable producing nutritious leaves which are rich in iron, vitamins A, C and E and are also high in mineral salts. Kale leaves are a medium green colour and very curly The tightly curled leaves provide tasty winter greens when little else is available. They can be eaten in salads, cooked like spinach, used as an ingredient in soup and are often used in stir-fries. Curly Kale plants grow approx. 70cm tall, are fairly wide and their vigorous root system resists wind rocking. This compact habit makes Westland Autumn an excellent choice for growing in borders and it can also be cropped successfully in containers. Kale is resistant to cabbage root fly and clubroot and is usually ignored by pigeons Very hardy, Curly Kale can withstand temperatures as low as -15C making it the ideal winter crop.
