Lupin Russell Hybrids Seeds

Lupin Russell Hybrids Seeds Description

Lupin Russell Hybrids

Transform Your Garden with Russell Hybrid Lupins
Russell Hybrid lupins are one of horticulture's greatest success stories. Developed in the 1930s by George Russell, a Yorkshire gardener, these perennial lupins transformed modest wildflowers into spectacular garden showstoppers.

Stunning Flower Spikes in Vibrant Colours
Russell Hybrids are renowned for their dense, towering flower spikes, which can reach 3-4 feet in height. Their florets are larger and more tightly packed than traditional lupins, producing a kaleidoscope of colours-from pure whites and delicate pastels to rich purples, vibrant pinks, and striking bi-colours.

Ideal Growing Conditions

• Thrives in cool, temperate climates

• Prefers full sun and well-drained, slightly acidic soil

• Nitrogen-fixing roots enrich the soil naturally

• Flowering period: Late spring to early summer

Garden Benefits of Lupin Russell Hybrids

• Creates dramatic vertical accents in cottage gardens and perennial borders

• Deadheading encourages a second flush of blooms

• Attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies

Care & Maintenance
While individual plants typically last 3-5 years, Russell Hybrid lupins readily self-seed. Note that seedlings may not replicate the parent plant's exact colours. These plants are toxic if ingested by humans or pets, so handle with care.
