SAFLAX - Forget Me Not - 150 seeds - Myosotis sylvatica / Delicate spring bloomer with a legendary story / USEFUL INFORMATION: The forget-me-nots, also known as mouse-ears because of the shape of their leaves, are beautiful spring flowers that are best planted in a group. The forget-me-not originally blooms in blue, the symbolic color of loyalty and longing. Its fivefold flowers appear from April to June. Forget-me-nots are good for the border of beds and are also suitable as filler plants. Sown in large quantities, the small flowers are particularly effective. But you can also keep them in a pot on the balcony or terrace. Forget-me-nots are said to have an anti-inflammatory, calming and strengthening effect on the digestive system. The valuable components of the plant are potassium, alkaloids and tannins. The areas of application are similar to those of lungwort and comfrey. Tea: Pour 1-2 teaspoons of dried plant leaves in 1 cup of boiling water and steep for 10 minutes before straining. Drinking one or two cups a day in small sips is sufficient. In the kitchen: The blossoms of the forget-me-not are edible and are often used in wild herbs. The flowers embellish tea and in salads they are also an enchanting decoration. They are plucked from the herb and rinsed with clear water before consumption. NATURAL LOCATION: The genus Myosotis is distributed in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and North America. SUCCESSFUL CULTIVATION: The new sowing takes place in June or July directly outdoors or from May as pre-breeding in trays. As a light germinator, you should only gently press the seeds into the moist growing substrate. Then place the growing trays in a shady place in the house at a maximum of 18 - 20 Celsius and keep the growing substrate moist but not wet. Germination takes place after two and three weeks. In the case of pre-breeding, the plantlets should be pricked out as soon as they have developed three to four pairs of leaves. Separate the plants about 20 centimeters apart. The flowering takes place only in the second year, since the plant must first have survived a cold period. THE BEST LOCATION: As a spring bloomer, the forget-me-not prefers a sunny to partially shaded spot and thrives best in well-drained, fresh soil. OPTIMAL CARE: The forget-me-not is extremely easy to care for. However, if it is dry, you should water it regularly. Fertilizers or a cut are not necessary. Only withered flowers should be removed from time to time. IN THE WINTER: In cold regions, it is better to provide the plants with winter protection. Young plants in particular must be protected from excessive frost with a covering of leaves or brushwood. Once the forget-me-not has established itself in the garden, it sows anew every year.
