Leek Carenten 2 (Organic) Description
Unwins Organic Leek Carentan 2 are a thick-stemmed, autumn/winter variety of leeks. Carentan 2 is tender, with very good flavour. They are ideal for soups and stews.
This vigorous and fast-growing with blue-green foliage, this variety stands well to provide a welcome winter crop.

Harvest: Oct to Feb
Sowing Indoors
Sow seeds thinly into pre-watered seed trays, 1 cm deep. Place in a warm spot (10-15 C) and keep soil moist at all times.
Planting Out
When seedlings reach 20 cm tall, plant into holes 15 cm deep, then fill with water. Space plants 20 cm apart in rows 30 cm apart.
Sowing Outdoors
Sow seeds thinly into pre-watered soil, 1 cm deep, in rows 30 cm apart. Keep soil moist at all times and thin seedlings to 20 cm apart.
Aftercare
To encourage long, white stems, draw up soil around plants as they develop. Keep well watered and feed regularly.
