Onion (Globe) Fasto F1 Description

Unwins Onion Fasto F1 Seeds produce uniform, golden skinned onions. Sow indoors between the months of February and April. 

The Fasto F1 Onion is heavy-cropping and can be stored for several months when kept cool, dry and dark. Sweat down in a pan for a flavourful base to soups and stews.

  • Matures early and stores well
  • Heavy cropping
Sow: Feb to Apr
Harvest: Jul to Sep

Sowing Indoors
Almost fill a seed tray or modules with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly and cover with a little more compost. Place in warmth (15-20 C).

Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, but out of direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5 cm apart into trays of potting compost.

Hardening Off / Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside containers for 2-3 weeks before planting out to their cropping positions. Space plants 15 cm apart with 30 cm between rows.

Sowing Outdoors
Sow seeds thinly in a pre-watered shallow row, lightly covering with a little soil. Keep moist in dry spells.

Thinning
Thin seedlings to 15 cm apart to allow full development of the bulbs.

Advice
Lift onions and spread out to dry on a clean surface in a well-ventilated garage or shed before storing for winter use.
